Why You Should Get a Thai Massage
Traditional Thai Massage or "Nuad-Bo-Rarn" is one of the world's oldest ways to keep body and mind healthy and balanced. About 2,500 years ago, the originally Indian technique was spread throughout South-East Asia via the Buddhist religion. For centuries it was performed by Thai monks as part of traditional Thai medicine. And now we can benefit and enjoy in the West as well.
Thai Massage combines the application of pressure -done with hands, thumbs, elbows, forearms, feet, and knees- with stretching of muscles to improve overall health and well-being.
The Proven Benefits
It improves blood circulation, reduces heart rate, and reduces edema.
It improves muscle strength, reduces muscle tension, removes lactic acids from muscle mass, relaxes the tendons, improves elasticity, and reduces stiffness.
It reduces pain and improves the feeling of the skin.
It improves the function of the internal organs such as the stomach, intestine, etc. and increases the elasticity of the digestive tract.
It improves the depth of breathing
... and perhaps the most important, it offers relaxation and a "zen moment" in an active and often stressful life.
Silkthai can be found in Amsterdam Oud-West, not far away from the Elandsgracht. We are exactly located between the 9-Straatjes shopping area and the hip and happening Foodhallen.
Silkthai is a 10-minute drive from the A10 ring road. Go via the Overtoom or the Van Galenstraat. You can park your car at the Europarking, 150meters down the street.
By public transport?
The Bus/Tramhalte Marnixstraat/Rozengracht is just around the corner.
When you take tram #17, get out at tramstop Elandsgracht.
We haven't been everywhere yet, work in progress, but here are a couple of our favorites:
For small Indonesian bites go to Cafe Amoi.
North-African dishes? Great fish at Zina from chef Ab Tlili.
When you say Panache, you say oysters and cote de boeuf.
Freshly roasted coffee you drink at Lot Sixty One Coffee Roasters.
No idea what to eat? Just go to the Foodhallen and get inspired.
